EFFECT OF COUNSELLING ON PREFERENCE OF SPECIALITY IN DENTAL STUDENTS OF KHYBER COLLEGE OF DENTISTRY

Abstract;
 
 Objective: To identify the preferences of dental graduates in field post-graduate specialty, factors that may influence their decision to select a particular and effect counselling on specialty preferences.
 Methods: A pre-counselling post-counselling questionnaire based study was carried out among final year students House surgeons Khyber College Dentistry, Peshawar, between May June 2020. self-administered questionnaire, inquiring about preference program, subject reason for preference, given students. After filling participants were session career counselling. session, they again asked future career. Both results then compared.
 Results: The most prevalent before Endodontics (36.2%). second one Oral Maxillofacial Surgery (21.3%) Periodontics (16.3%). counselling, remained same, however, reduced 33.8% 13.8%, respectively. Among post-graduation programs, FCPS program (77.5%).
 Conclusion: is preferred followed by Surgery. FCPS. single did not change significantly. likely behind possession unique set skills specialty.
